2025 wrapped | the year of micro weddings & fun
all these end of year spotify wrapped posts made me want to sit down and reflect on my year. but how does one go about summarizing an entire year of photographing people on one of the most meaningful days of their lives?
turns out, this year had a very clear theme. this year was full of small but mighty celebrations, real emotion, new creative directions, and so many ferry rides, courthouse visits, and delicious dinners (seriously. canlis knows what they’re doing). here’s a little peek behind the curtain of what this year looked like for me as a seattle wedding photographer.
36 weddings, micro weddings, and elopements
2025 was very much the year of the micro wedding and the city elopement. about 30 percent of my couples opted for luxurious, intimate dinner parties at iconic restaurants like canlis, and another 10 percent had even more minimalistic seattle courthouse affairs. even many of my “full day” weddings had micro wedding guest counts.
this trend is only growing, and i love it. couples are making their wedding day their own, choosing intentional gatherings, and investing in experiences instead of expectations. fewer guests means more connection, more room in the budget for the things that matter, and more time spent actually enjoying the day instead of managing it and wrangling guests.
side note: so many clients hired me only for the ceremony this year and saved their dinner party for later. if this is you, i gently encourage you to consider hiring me for the second celebration too. even if it feels “casual,” you deserve to have it documented beautifully. future-you will be so glad you did.
29 portrait sessions
from families to mini’s to surprise proposals to boudoir sessions… 2025 was very full and absolutely amazing.
as i intentionally take on fewer full-day weddings to pour more energy into each couple, i’m opening the door to more portrait sessions, especially boudoir and minis. autumn minis were such a huge success this year that they’re becoming a regular thing. cherry blossom minis are coming early april (and yes, previous clients get first dibs because i love you).
my first styled shoot
this one still makes me laugh because who waits until wedding three hundred to do a styled shoot? apparently me. and the shoot was in las vegas, of all places!
it was luxurious, creative, and beautifully crafted. i’ll be doing more of these in 2026, not because they replace the real thing, but because they stretch me creatively in a way i didn’t know i needed.
you can see the results of the vegas styled shoot here!
falling back in love with film (again)
i shot more film in 2025 than any other year in my career, and i loved every second of it.
film was my first love in photography, and it continues to be the medium that slows me down in the best way. the tones, the texture, the nostalgia, the way it forces you to slow down and make each frame count.
starting next year, all full wedding collections will include one roll of 35mm film with the option to add more. i am so excited to build this into the experience.
super 8 movies | the return to filmmaking
i filmed about 13 minutes of super 8 this year and every second of it was magic. there’s something so tender about it.
in 2026 i’m expanding my super 8 offerings. once i hit my monthly cap of full wedding days (usually four), i’ll be opening up standalone super 8 wedding coverage for couples who want that dreamy, vintage movie feel.
yes… i might be slowly tiptoeing back into filmmaking again. we’ll see where it goes.
wanderlust
this year took me to two countries and four states.
this year brought me to scotland and england. it was my fifth visit and it still felt like a vibe, although i think we are taking a small break from each other.
my eyes are wandering elsewhere for 2026. croatia, italy, mexico, las vegas, the san juan islands, and whatever other beautiful corner of the world you invite me to. photographing love in new places is something i’ll never get over.
closing the year with a grateful heart
2025 gave me exactly what i love. big feelings, packed dance floors, a little rain, and couples who actually care about how their wedding is remembered. if you were part of my year, thank you for that honor.
we photograph and film weddings in seattle and across the pacific northwest with a candid, documentary approach and an editorial edge. photography, wedding video, super 8, and 35mm film. real moments, great light, zero performing.
