lime kiln lighthouse wedding at san juan islands

delaney and tyler wanted a lighthouse wedding on san juan island, and the island delivered something even better than the postcard version: deep navy storm clouds stacking over Haro Strait, with the light staying bright and electric underneath. moody and joyful, somehow, at the same time.
we shot the ceremony and portraits at Lime Kiln Point State Park, right on the rocky bluff beside the lighthouse, had a gorgeous cocktail hour at the tucker house inn, and then headed to coho for their intimate dinner reception. it was an incredible day from start to finish!

getting ready + the first look at Tucker House Inn

the morning started at Tucker House Inn in Friday Harbor, where delaney and tyler got ready and met for their first look on the stairs. i loved to witness how they both looked at each other just then.

then we headed out to Lime Kiln, and the sky was beautifully dramatic above us while we worked through the ceremony on the bluffs and portraits by the lighthouse. i'm not going to pretend the weather was "perfect" in the traditional sense. it was better than perfect -- it was interesting, and it made every image feel alive.

cocktail hour at the tucker house inn

cocktail hour brought everyone back to Tucker House. Tucker House is the kind of place that feels tucked away from everything, even though you're right in the middle of Friday Harbor. there were bubbles (obviously), golden evening light filtering through the trees, and a traditional sri lankan oil lamp ceremony that delaney and tyler incorporated as a nod to tyler's heritage.

the team at Tucker House was warm and thoughtful in every single detail. you could feel how much they cared about getting the day right.

the intimate micro wedding reception at coho

from there, we walked over to coho restaurant for dinner. and if you haven't been to Coho, that's your homework. the coziest space, dark and candlelit, with amazing staff that helped make the table of 30-something people feel like they're at a private dinner party.

the tables were thoughtfully decorated with baby's breath and taper candles on the white tablecloths, as well as handwritten place cards. it was exactly the kind of day both had imagined, and i am honored to have been there to capture it.
